Musicpedia : The Open Music Encyclopedia
Welcome to Musipedia! Inspired by, but not affiliated with Wikipedia, we are building a searchable, editable, and expandable collection of tunes, melodies, and musical themes.
Every entry can be edited by anybody. An entry can contain a bit of sheet music, a MIDI file, textual information about the work and the composer, and last but not least the Parsons Code, a rough description of the melodic contour, to make the encyclopedia searchable by melody.

Make your own instruments
Parents do not need to be knowledgeable about music-making to help their children experience the benefits at home.
Making simple homemade instruments is a fun and inexpensive activity. The trick is to be imaginative - literally any household object can be used to make a sound. Encourage your child to experiment with the following homemade instruments to see what different sounds they make.

Pronouncing Dictionary of Music and Musicians
http://woi.org/dictionary/
Pronouncing Dictionary of Music and Musicians
Pronouncing the titles of classical music and the names of composers and performers is a daunting task for many Americans because so many of the words are foreign to us. Adding to the difficulty is the fact that some of the names that look familiar are not pronounced as we would pronounce them. This dictionary provides some help in the form of pronunciations by a phonetic system devised by E. Douglas Brown of the staff of WOI Radio at Iowa State University. Many of the pronunciations in the dictionary were derived from tape-recorded pronunciations made by foreign nationals who were were speaking their respective native languages.

Internet Recording Studios
http://www.rocketnetwork.com/
This site, and free software, allows musicians from around the world to work together in non-simultaneous musical-collaborations in online virtual studios.
For example, someone lays down a guitar track, and then others build upon this track with bass, keyboards, voice etc to create a finished musical piece by musicians, including your school's music-students, whom have never met.
The idea has amazing potential for school music faculties, and students.
