Creating Gmail (sub mail) Accounts for Students
http://sites.fcps.org/trt/node/215
Creating Gmail "Sub-Email" Accounts for Students
Often times, a Web 2.0 application will require a valid email address to create an account. In order to maximize the safety of the online experience of students, you can create “dummy” Google Gmail accounts to allow you to control the accounts of the students.
This will allow you to have greater supervision of the students’ online activities.
In Gmail, you can have what are called “sub-email accounts.” For example, if my Gmail address is tbollino@gmail.com, I can use a sub-email account called tbollino+student1@gmail.com. You can use as many as you wish.

http://www.think.com/en_gb/about/email.shtml
Integrated Email Designed for Schools
Free email accounts for every student and teacher in your school. Think.com email is accessible from any Internet connected computer -- from school, the library or home. Your email account is hosted for free by Think.com so your school doesn't have to buy the hardware, the software or manage the systems.
Think.com email is easy to use. You'll have an Inbox and the ability to create additional folders to store important messages. Each student is allowed 2 megabytes of email storage. You can also create a Buddy List to make it faster to send emails to your online friends.
Students can only receive messages from other Think.com members or from people whom they have included in their Address Books. All other email is bounced, so they can't get spammed.
As a Teacher, you'll be able to review those Address Books to ensure that email is being used appropriately. Alternatively, your school can decide to turn off external email altogether. Your school also has the option to block all email attachments.
