ESL Continuous Professional Development
CPD is still in its infancy and is being applied across a wide range of professions. It is not only applicable to the teaching profession. Some teaching institutions have already embraced the principles of CPD, however, and are actively encouraging their employees to explore the different possibilities open to them in the CPD programme. The British Institute for English Language Teaching (BIELT) actively supports CPD and their web-site (www.bielt.org) has some helpful advice in setting up CPD programmes.
