3d&I - Graphic Design
3d&I is a Web site that explores how everyday objects are designed. The site is organized by three topics: Discover, Design and Discuss. The site provides a wide range of resources, including several interactive design tools, stories about design, resources for teachers and parents, useful Web resources, and message boards.
Your shoes, your computer, your house, your town-they are all MADE BY DESIGN. Good design is everywhere-and bad design is too!
3d&i is a new website that has games, sharing between kids, and stories-all about design and the visual world. It's targeted especially to 9-12 year olds.
There are many ways to get around the site-
Look on the 3d&i LOGO on the upper left corner of the home page (and every page).
Click on one of the boxes labeled D and you will enter one of three main sections: DESIGN, DISCOVER, or DISCUSS. The "I" takes you back to the home page.
There's also the 3d&i MOBILE-click on a big circle and you'll see smaller circles that show some of the things on the site that are related to that kind of designing. Click on one of the little circles to get there.

History of Printing
http://www.lib.udel.edu/ud/spec/exhibits/color/
Color printing in the nineteenth century
The nineteenth century was the turning point for technical development in color illustration.
At the beginning of the century, books with color plates were hand-colored by the artist, using techniques dating back to the Renaissance. A hundred years later, the photo-reproductive techniques and the steam-driven printing press took printing out of the hands of the artist and introduced processes which would be used until the computer revolution of our day.
