Cea8txt Keyboard
Imagine using a mobile phone style keypad to input text into a computer! Young people can type text faster using a numerical keyboard layout rather than using a traditional computer QWERTY keyboard. Our device replaces or augments the use of a QWERTY keyboard for computer text entry.
The QWERTY layout was fixed in 1868 and was purposely constructed to slow down the user to prevent typewriter mechanisms from jamming. Our new device is akin to a mobile phone which could use predictive text technology. Words can be entered directly into a word processor or software application running on a computer.

Trialling the tablet PCs
http://www.lgfl.net/lgfl/leas/greenwich/schools/millennium/web/projects/intro/
In October 2002 the Millennium School in Greenwich took part in a trial for RM and Microsoft evaluating the use of the new tablet PC in the classroom. RM provided 15 prototypes for the classroom along with teacher models to enable the staff to feedback on their design and use.
The tablet PCs from RM are basically touch screen laptops and as such they inherit many of the same strengths and weaknesses. It's great that you can run normal software and that you have a fully functioning computer without wires. However battery life and loading times are the curse in the classroom. The ideal portable would have a battery life of 10-12 hours with an operating system on ROM for instant booting and shutdown.

IWB Interactive WhiteBoards : European Paper
Introducing classroom/lecture-room ICT display systems, such as projectors and interactive whiteboards, brings many advantages but also raises some issues. These can be seen either as a problem or an opportunity.
Making it possible to use digital content much more powerfully in the classroom will soon cause discussion about how the school/college manages its digital learning content. In doing this, it is the needs of the individual teachers and classes that must be considered first.
The E.E.P. Innovations Service is designed to help people leading the development of ICT-for-learning. The Innovations Area on the E.E.P. web site contains brief reports on new innovations and the learning/teaching benefits, to aid your awareness. It also provides routes to deeper information and to help.

This case study aims to provide evidence that using an interactive whiteboard with primary aged pupils is an effective tool and, more specifically, that it is of particular benefit to deaf bilingual children.
