Extended Essay From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Extended Essay (EE) is one of the requirements of the IB Diploma Programme. It is an essay of a maximum 4000 words, written on a freely-chosen topic, and provides the students with an opportunity to conduct independent research on a topic that interests them
In total, students are expected to spend about 40 hours on writing the EE, but some students use a shorter amount of time, and others a longer amount.
The Extended Essay is externally assessed (graded) by the International Baccalaureate Organization."

The Extended Essay (EE) (Oakham School - UK)
http://www.oakham.rutland.sch.uk/academic/curriculum/upper%20school/ib/EE.htm
The Extended Essay (EE) is one of the central parts of the IB Diploma, along with CAS and ToK. All students research and write their EE independently, and can write on any topic and in any language they like (as long as it falls within the IB subject areas). Students usually write on topics that hold particular interest or reference to them, and the essay can be based on research or experiment.
The EE takes around 40 hours to write and research; at Oakham students have a week in the summer term of sixth form (usually at the same time as AS exams) in which they can complete their EEs free of other academic commitments. Many students find that this relieves them of the pressure of completing their EE in the seventh form as they approach their exams.
A list of recent titles chosen by Oakham IB students is available.
