Earth Observation
http://yyy.tksc.nasda.go.jp/Home/Earth_Obs/index_e.html
Satellites are actively used as means of gaining data on the Earth. The Earth Observation via satellites are currently providing data in a wide range of fields such as topography, oceanography, atmospheric conditions, biological distribution, and the climate. Japan has launched a variety of observation satellites, and NASDA's Office of Earth Observation Systems takes primary charge of research for developing the satellites and their onboard equipment, image processing and analysis of the aquired observation data.

Europe's Meteorological Satellite Organization (EUMETSAT)
Images of the globe are taken routinely by EUMETSAT's Meteosat satellites from the geostationary orbit about 36000 km above the equator. Currently EUMETSAT is operating Meteosat satellites at positions of 0° longitude and at 63°E. The images are taken on a half-hourly basis and after processing at our control centre in Darmstadt, they are re-disseminated via the satellites to the user community.

International Weather Satellite Imagery Center
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~dbaron/sat/
International Weather Satellite Imagery Center
International Weather Satellite Images ...the Internet's largest listing of weather satellite images.
This site is a listing of satellite images and movies taken by weather satellites around the globe. I have links to satellite pictures at other sites that are well known around the weather community and links to those that are practically unknown. Some of the pictures, especially those in visible light, offer stunning views of the Earth.
Looking at weather satellite images gives you a chance to see weather events on a large scale. One can see the development of hurricanes, large frontal systems, the daily cycles of thunderstorms, and the repetitive weather patterns that cover many parts of the globe.
