Google Spreadsheet Gadgets and More
Google Spreadsheets as part of the Google Docs suite added several new features; better revisions comparison through color highlights, change notifications, and a Google spreadsheet gadgets directory. (Auto-completion of values in cells may also be new, I’m not perfectly sure.)

It can be easily set up to publish to basic web server space accessed by FTP and there is no need to set up server-side programs like CGI. It can, though, run on a server and be used with nothing more than a browser on the client.

Lightweight data exploration in Excel
We often are given a chunk of data in Excel that we need to explore. Of course, the first tool you should pull out of your toolbox in cases like this is the trusty PivotTable (it slices, it dices!). But at times we have to dig a little deeper into the toolbox and pull out the in-cell bar chart.
Here? what it looks like.

Using Spreadsheets as a Problem-Solving Tool

Using Spreadsheets as a Problem-Solving Tool
Spreadsheets are a very powerful tool that allows students to understand complicated word problems. They allow students to "spread" out data for manipulation, analysis, and reflection. Below are many examples that you can use to teach students how to use a spreadsheet as a tool to think at a higher level in order to solve real life word problems.

Community Students Spreadsheets
http://www.cleo.net.uk/community/spreadsheet?invite=1
This community is for teachers to use with their students/pupils. It has two distinct 'audiences'.
The first is for the teacher introducing students/pupils to spreadsheet applications or developing pupils understanding of how a spreadsheet can be used.
The examples remove the need to know how to prepare a spreadsheet or start with an over-facing screen of blank cells both for teacher and student.
There are various themes available but I am very willing to develop a theme from your own idea.
Just e-mail the idea with a few details of what you hope the spreadsheet will do.
The second audience is the teacher as a classroom administrator. Several spreadsheets are designed to make those tedious tasks a little easier.
