Tornado Virtual Field Trip
Do you recall the tornado in "The Wizard of Oz" that takes Dorothy's house and transplants it to the land of Oz? Well we don't know of any tornadoes that have picked something up and moved it to Oz, but we do know that tornadoes can have unbelievable strength and that trucks and houses have been picked up and placed elsewhere. In this field trip students will learn about the conditions that allow tornadoes to form, where these windstorms occur, how they're measured, myths about tornadoes, and how to prepare.

Weather Glossary - for Storm Spotting
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/severewx/glossary.html
A Comprehensive Glossary of Weather Terms for Storm Spotters
This glossary contains weather-related terms that may be either heard or used by severe local storm spotters or spotter groups. Its purposes are 1) to achieve some level of standardization in the definitions of the terms that are used, and 2) provide a reference from which the meanings of any terms, especially the lesser-used ones, can be found. The idea is to allow smooth and effective communication between storm spotters and forecasters, and vice versa.
One last word: Storm spotting is vital, but also can be very dangerous. No one should attempt storm spotting without first obtaining the proper training! This glossary in itself is not to be considered sufficient training material to qualify oneself as a spotter.

Hurricane City
http://www.hurricanecity.com/
About the Original Live radio & cam hurricane Tracking site!!.This concept was created by Jim Williams in late 1997. The idea of this site is that it allows the visitor to feel close to the storm without feeling the affects, unless ofcourse your in the path of the storm. As soon as a city in either the Caribbean or the United States or Central America is within the strike probabilities the city with the highest probability will be featured. The information provided in the links is information gathered through years of research & the links for radio, radar & cams are gathered from many hrs of surfing the web for links.
The radio link to the city threatened will be the nearest live radio feed. In some cases especially the Caribbean cities the language may be in Spanish or French, also the radio may not be from the city being threatened it could be as far as 200 miles away.
The nearest live cam will be available & as in the radio situation the city threatened may not have a live cam therefore either a cam further away or well inland may be used.

Weather : 4 2 Explore
http://eduscapes.com/42explore/weather.htm
This web project provides "four to explore" for each topic.
On each page you'll find definitions, activities, 4 good starting points, and many more links and resources for the thematic topic.
In some cases, we've listed more than four websites on a particular topic. For example, we might provide a few for younger readers and others for more advanced learners.
Each school, classroom, and teacher is unique. As such we didn't try to provide specific activities for particular grade levels. Instead we suggest that teachers explore each link, then design specific, developmentally appropriate activities such as discussion questions, small group activities, or webquests to fit the needs of their curriculum.
The links on this site are safe for children.
