Model Volcanoes
http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/lessons.cfm?DocID=320
Model Volcanoes : To represent volcanoes with models and sketches.
In this lesson, students will explore volcanoes through the making of models and reflect upon their learning through drawing sketches of their models. As most students have never actually seen a volcano, this is an area of learning that remains fairly abstract. Making models of volcanoes provides students with a means to make the unfamiliar more familiar.
Once they have finished making their models, they will experiment with making their volcanoes erupt. Students will observe how eruption changes the original form of their volcano models.

Volcanoes
http://www.ictadvice.org.uk/index.php?section=tl&cat=001002004&rid=4877
Pupils investigated the impact of volcanoes in different parts of the world. They used CD-ROMs and the internet to research recent volcanic eruptions. These details are published on the web very quickly and make use of a wide range of data types. The children communicated their findings in the form of a newspaper report prepared using desktop publishing. Year 7 pupils, in a mixed-ability class in an 11?6 comprehensive school, completed this activity.

Volcano - Virtual Field Trip
http://www.field-trips.org/sci/volcano/index.htm
A field trip created with TourMaker guides you through a sequence of Web pages on any given topic. For each page, there is simultaneous commentary in an accompanying frame. You move forward and back through the Field Trip using the tour Control Panel and you can leave the Tour to explore links and return to it whenever you want.
Volcanoes can be exciting and dangerous. They are also educational since they tell us a lot about the earth and even other planets.
The inside of the Earth is very hot. Sometimes, this heat melts through the rock of the earth's crust, sending hot liquid rock (called magma) and gases onto the Earth's surface. A buildup of lava and ash around the area of an eruption becomes a volcano. Volcanoes can erupt for a very brief time or they can erupt many times over millions of years.
Sometimes they sleep for long periods and people think they are finished, but they aren't. Mount St Helens was one of these sleeping volcanoes and it surprised everyone when it became active in 1980, causing a lot of destruction and loss of life.

Volcano : 4 2 Explore
http://eduscapes.com/42explore/volcano.htm
This web project provides "four to explore" for each topic.
On each page you'll find definitions, activities, 4 good starting points, and many more links and resources for the thematic topic.
In some cases, we've listed more than four websites on a particular topic. For example, we might provide a few for younger readers and others for more advanced learners.
Each school, classroom, and teacher is unique. As such we didn't try to provide specific activities for particular grade levels. Instead we suggest that teachers explore each link, then design specific, developmentally appropriate activities such as discussion questions, small group activities, or webquests to fit the needs of their curriculum.
The links on this site are safe for children.
