Historious

Historious
Historious. It’s an interesting mix of Delicious and Google.
It has the whole package; free, located in the cloud, and the general overview actually improves with an increase of quantity. While using this service, my bookmarks have surpassed the privileged (and static) two dozen websites, now growing with a couple of websites per day.
Missing is the social aspects that are found in Dilicious and Diigo ... i.e. not able to benefit from others.

Delicious in the K-12 Classroom (inc Screencast)
http://www.learnitin5.com/Social-Bookmarking-in-the-K12-Classroom
How to use the social bookmarking site Delicious in the K-12 Classroom
"Social bookmarking is a kind of social media or social networking that most people do not immediately consider as part of the Web 2.0 world. Like Twitter or Ning, though, Delicious is a social network that can be used quite efficiently in today's technology classroom, as Delicious is very much a sharing tool, similar to Diigo.
Delicious allows users to bookmark or save any web site and categorize it with "tags." These bookmarked sites and tags can then be shared with anyone the Delicious user allows to see them.
Delicious is a powerful way for teachers to share web sites"

LiveBinder (free)
http://livebinders.com
LiveBinder is dedicated to helping you empower others with the information you worked hard to collect.
If you're like us, you've used 'creative' tactics to keep track of all these links either through email, word documents or endless lists in your browser bookmarks folder. It is hard to put a bunch of links together in any meaningful format. And sharing a group of URLs is cumbersome for everyone - the sender and the receiver. Have you ever looked through your bookmarks list and forgotten what they are all for?
We created LiveBinders so that you could do with digital information what you do with the papers on your desk - organize them into nice containers - like 3-ring binders on your shelf.

Why We Like Diigo
http://schoolcomputing.wikia.com/wiki/Why_We_Like_Diigo
Why We Like Diigo
"Diigo is a social bookmarking site similar to Delicious, but Diigo adds the highlighting & commenting features which take this tool to a greater level of usefulness. My Diigo bookmarks and sticky notes on web pages are not tied to any one computer, they are tied to my Diigo account, so that I can log in and see them from any computer anywhere.
Highlighting a piece of text on a web page will automatically bookmark that page for me. I can insert comments on the highlighting and leave private or public sticky notes on the page.
I can also do all of this in groups which makes it a powerful collaborative tool. Groups also include message boards and automated email summaries of activity."

A web site for teachers. We are in the process (June09)of indexing the (USA) State standards so that teachers can use them as a tool for organizing content they find on the internet.
So far California, Texas, and New York are complete. We are working on Florida. Our goal is to have a complete index for all of the states.
It works like a social bookmarking site that allows you to link a page to a state standard. It also provides google searches within each standard. As teachers bookmark more sites and rate them, the best content will bubble to the top.

SimplyBox
http://simplybox.com
SimplyBox
As you surf the Web, you constantly find information/content that you would like to keep. Bookmarks and e-mail force you to keep entire web pages. And as you keep more pages, the harder it is to find them later.
SimplyBox's unique patent pending technology allows you to capture and keep just the parts of the page that you want: a sentence, a picture, a paragraph you decide. Each part of the page that you capture is an Item. A collection of Items is a Box. You can have Boxes on any subject/category you want: recipes box, funny jokes box, stocks box, etc. Items and Boxes are more visual and flexible to organize than lists of bookmarks, URLs, or e-mails. And sharing it with friends/colleagues becomes a very quick, dynamic, and fun exercise.
