Sustainable Schools
The Sustainable Schools area of Teachernet is designed to support schools on their journey to sustainability, introducing the principles of sustainable development and offering guidance on how to embed these principles into the heart of school life.
The site provides useful information for all sectors of the school community, including the leadership team, the management team, teachers and parents, and offers a number of excellent online and downloadable tools (auditing, benchmarking, environmental assessment) to help schools identify the best route to becoming more sustainable.
The Sustainable Schools site is designed to help school managers and teachers to assess current practice, and to decide where to go next.
In the Tools section you can access a number of school improvement tools. These help schools assess current practice, identify areas for improvement, and begin the process of change.

They learn the importance of negotiation and balancing the different needs and requirements of individuals and groups.
1. How can you establish the needs of your school and the community in relation to the school grounds?
2. How can you decide on priorities for developments to the school grounds?
3. How can you meet the needs of people using the school grounds?
