Oral History
"Oral history is a method of gathering and preserving historical information through recorded interviews of people about past events and ways of life" (Oral History Association). Oral history methods pair the oldest type of historical inquiry, evoking spoken word responses that predates writing, with relatively modern technologies, audio and video recording.

Using Oral History : Lesson Overview
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/ndlpedu/lessons/oralhist/ohhome.html
Using Oral History : Lesson Overview
This lesson presents social history content and topics through the voices of ordinary people. It draws on primary sources from the American Memory Collection, American Life Histories, 1936-1940.
Using excerpts from the collection, students study social history topics through interviews that recount the lives of ordinary Americans. Based on these excerpts and further research in the collections, students develop their own research questions. They then plan and conduct oral history interviews with members of their communities.

How to do Oral History

How to do Oral History
Everyone has a story to tell about their life which is unique to them. Some people have been involved in momentous historical events like the Second World War, but many others haven't. Regardless of age or importance we all have interesting experiences to share.
Unfortunately, because memories die when people do, if we don't record what people tell us it is history that is lost for ever.
