PhotoSoup
http://next.yahoo.net/photosoup/
PhotoSoup is a visual word puzzle generator that allows users to create word search puzzles with tag-photo pairs taken from Flickr. The tag is hidden in the puzzle, and only the associated photo is shown as a clue. The objective is to find all hidden tags in the puzzle before you run out of time.
To create and play a new puzzle, you have to provide a topic, such as "zoo". Alternatively, you can use your own username to generate a puzzle that shows your photos. Of course you can also check out the photos your friends have posted on Flickr. Keep in mind, that we only use public Flickr photos that have the Creative Commons Attribution license when generating a PhotoSoup puzzle.

Quizlet (web 2.0)
http://quizlet.com/
Quizlet (web 2.0)
My mission for Quizlet is to make learning vocabulary not a chore. I know a lot of teachers assign vocabulary to students, but few students actually "absorb" words into their vocabularies after they take their test.
Which kind of defeats the purpose, right? So Quizlet is my response - it aims to make learning fun, thus make learning effective. At the very least, it can help students do better on quizzes and tests even if they don't fully "absorb" their words.
Quizlet is free and will remain free to all users.

Hangman
http://www.adders.org/freeware/hangman.html
Hangman
My version of the very old and simple word game where you can choose from the word lists provided or make your own. The idea of the game is to guess the word or phrase picked at random from a list before the hangman scaffold is fully built. Each time you guess a letter, if it appears in a word it will show up in the correct position including if it appears more than once. For every letter you try that is not in the word or phrase, a piece of the hangman scaffold is shown.
The different word lists or categories included with the program are World Countries, Capital Cities, Bible Characters, Birds, Animals, Insects, Flowers, Vegetables, Films, Children's Films, Sports and Fruits.
