Preparing for an OFSTED D&T Inspection
http://www.ryan56.freeserve.co.uk/ofsted/ofstdex.htm
Preparing for an OFSTED D&T Inspection
There is very little doubt that preparing for and going through an OFSTED Inspection is one of the most stressful times faced by teachers. Inspections normally take place every four to six years dependent on the findings of the previous inspection. A school that has had a good or very good inspection report can expect the next inspection to take place approximately six years in the future. However, a school that has had a weak or satisfactory report should expect the next inspection to be no more than four years in the future.
Despite the importance of an OFSTED Inspection very little free advice is available for departments. The first part of this section of the WATT website gives sound advice regarding preparing for the inspection. The second part refers to coping with the inspection week.

D and T Attainment Targets and Level Descriptions
http://www.ncaction.org.uk/subjects/design/targets.htm
D and T Attainment Targets and Level Descriptions
The attainment target in D&T sets out the knowledge, skills and understanding that pupils of different abilities and maturities are expected to have by the end of each key stage.
Attainment targets consist of eight level descriptions of increasing difficulty, plus a description of exceptional performance above level 8.
Each level description describes the type and range of performance that pupils working at that level should characteristically demonstrate.

D and T Attainment Targets
An attainment target sets out the 'knowledge, skills and understanding which pupils of different abilities and maturities are expected to have by the end of each key stage' (as defined by the Education Act 1996, section 353a). Except in the case of citizenship (in citizenship, expected performance for the majority of pupils at the end of key stages 3 and 4 is set out in the end of key stage descriptions), attainment targets consist of eight level descriptions of increasing difficulty, plus a description for exceptional performance above level 8. Each level description describes the types and range of performance that pupils working at that level should characteristically demonstrate.
