In addition, hundreds of private and public sector representatives participated in numerous discussions to come up with ideas for transforming their sectors through infocomm, and how to translate these ideas into reality.

Singapore Ministry of Education : Mission and Vision Statement
The mission of the Education Service is to mould the future of the nation, by moulding the people who will determine the future of the nation. The Service will provide our children with a balanced and well-rounded education, develop them to their full potential, and nurture them into good citizens, conscious of their responsibilities to family, society and country.
Ministry of Education's vision of "Thinking Schools, Learning Nation" (TSLN) was first announced by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong in 1997.
This vision describes a nation of thinking and committed citizens capable of meeting the challenges of the future, and an education system geared to the needs of the 21st century.

What is Teach Less, Learn More? (sg)
http://www.moe.gov.sg/bluesky/print_tllm.htm
Teach Less, Learn More is about teaching better, to engage our learners and prepare them for life, rather than teaching more, for tests and examinations.
Thinking Schools, Learning Nation (TSLN) was adopted as the vision statement for MOE in 1997. It continues to be the over-arching descriptor of the transformation in the education system, comprising changes in all aspects of education. These changes articulate how MOE would strive toward the Desired Outcomes of Education (DOEs).
TLLM builds on the groundwork laid in place by the systemic and structural improvements under TSLN, and the mindset changes encouraged in our schools under I&E. It continues the TSLN journey to improve the quality of interaction between teachers and learners, so that our learners can be more engaged in learning and better achieve the desired outcomes of education.

The first issue also introduced the notion of a Community of Practice (CoP) as a platform for pooling of resources and sharing of good practices.
This publication attempts, in addition, to raise awareness on the notion of a Community of Practice (CoP). Many teachers are interested in pooling resources and sharing good practices. They may want to consider some of the ideas found here in order to establish or join a CoP to share useful resources and practices.
The issue of copyright is also discussed as teachers have to grapple with it when designing IT-based lesson materials. By drawing attention to this issue, it is hoped that teachers and their students will continue to explore ways to use intellectual property with responsibility.

In this second issue, we sought to develop the idea of a CoP further by gathering a group of teachers from across Singapore to contribute their ICT-infused lesson ideas. These lesson ideas have been adapted to highlight engaged learning, which is central to the second ICT in Education Masterplan (mp2). We hope that you will be able to adapt these ideas and incorporate engaged learning practices into your lessons. Nevertheless, the lesson ideas featured in this publication are not exhaustive. We hope to expand these further through an ongoing process of engaging teachers and promoting sharing and collaboration amongst teachers.
