Re: Medical Benefits for Non-Teaching Staff - 1 September 1998

I am pleased to confirm that, with effect from 1 September 1998, the
allowances for medical benefits provided under Section 9 of  Appendix 9 of
the Conditions of Service for Non-teaching Staff will be revised as follows:

(25.6)  Total fees for consultations and drugs provided by a    
        non-Foundation doctor                                    6,210 p.a.

(25.7)  Hospitalisation:        Accommodation                      625 p.d.
                                Physician's visits                 625 p.d.

        Operation (surgeon, anaesthetist, theatre)
        Total costs:            Major                           26,200
                                Intermediate                    11,500
                                Minor                            4,900

(25.8)  Specialist consultation (when required by GP)            2,790 p.a.

(25.8)  Diagnostic X-ray and laboratory tests                    2,270 p.a.

(25.8)  Ophthalmic (consultation and ordinary lenses)              490 p.a.

(25.9)  Dental benefits                                          3,400 p.a.
