It was originally intended to create a "Shambles" database of consultants, facilitators and advisors that would be available to work in International Schools in different curriculum and subject areas.

This task turned out much more ambitious than expected and has therefore been put "on-hold"

There are already a number of other websites that are building databases of independent consultants which you might like to contact directly.

  • UNESCO : educational consultants database in the Caribbean
  • UNESCO : "experts" database worldwide (for educational planning and management : e-map)
  • Canadian : database of Training Suppliers
  • Training Consortium : database of trainers, consultants, speakers, organizations, and vendors
  • SHAMBLES : List
  • ACLR : information literacy consultants and speakers "Peer Consultants" database
  • Soflow : worldwide database of all professions
  • Training Classes Directory : a very comprehensive worldwide database by Stuart Jones

If you are looking for support in the area of Information and communication Technology (ICT) especially integration across the curriculum then feel free to contact me directly (Chris Smith csmith@csmith.info).

Other strategies to consider
for you to find outside inservice facilitators and advisors are (in no particular order) :

  • one of the best sources of recommendations for facilitators can be from other International Schools sharing experiences. Each term I send a newsletter to International Schools in Asia (mailing list of over 6,000) ... I am happy to include any requests you have for requests for outside facilitators .... just send me details for inclusion
  • lists of schools worldwide can be found at www.shambles.net/pages/staff/findschool/
  • professional organisations and associations can often be well trusted sources for recommendations ... there are lists of subject professional organisations on each of the subject pages on Shambles ... just click on the subject name in the table at the bottom of this page
  • in the UK the Local Education Authorities (LEAs) are often willing to hire out advisory staff. A list of LEAs can be found online alphabetical list or LEA Gateway at http://www.dfes.gov.uk/leas/
  • You may wish to place an advertisement in a country professional newspapers e.g.
    • UK Times Educational Supplement TES
    • please send me details any other sources you know of.
